Jules is a senior member of our Corporate/Commercial and Insolvency Group. The major portion of Jules' practice is devoted to the resolution of problems dealing with insolvent or debt ridden corporations. This involves representing creditors, both secured and unsecured; landlords; employees and affected stakeholders. These services are usually provided in connection with formal restructuring processes utilizing the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, The Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act, The Winding-Up and Restructuring Act, The Income Tax Act and related statutes.
Jules graduated from the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall and was called to the Bar in 1959. He was appointed as Queens Counsel in 1978 and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, International Bar Association, Metropolitan Toronto Law Association and Law Society of Upper Canada and currently is a member of its Bankruptcy and Insolvency Law Specialty Committee. He has prepared and presented papers to and lectured extensively at conferences held by the Law Society of Upper Canada, Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association, Canadian Insolvency Association, International Council of Shopping Centers, Superintendent of Bankruptcy and various professional seminars.
